Istilah \u201c<em>Overthink<\/em>\u201d dapat didefinisikan sebagai tindakan di mana individu terlalu memikirkan sesuatu, atau menghabiskan terlalu banyak waktu untuk memikirkan atau menganalisa sesuatu (Kamus online Merriam-Webster, 2020), alias berpikir berlebihan terus menerus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Apa bedanya antara <em>overthinking <\/em>dan merasa cemas?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keduanya saling berkaitan. Namun, <em>overthinking<\/em> fokus pada perasaan negatif dari suatu pengalaman yang tidak menyenangkan, sedangkan kecemasan berfokus pada rasa cemas akan antisipasi terhadap hal yang belum terjadi di masa mendatang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kecemasan menyebabkan seseorang menjadi <em>overthinking<\/em>, dan selalu <em>overthinking<\/em> justru dapat meningkatkan kecemasan. Seseorang dapat memikirkan bahwa di masa depan dia akan celaka, gagal, tersakiti, dll dan berupaya menyelesaikan masalah itu di dalam benaknya, atau sebaliknya. Ia terlalu berkutat dengan sesuatu yang telah terjadi di masa lalu atau berpikiran bahwa sesuatu yang telah terjadi di masa lalu adalah bagian dari masa sekarang yang sedang dihadapi dan akan berdampak dengan masa depan. Akibatnya, seseorang dapat kehilangan konsentrasi (karena berkutat dengan pikirannya), sulit tidur, tidak percaya diri, hingga menyebabkan sakit fisik (misalnya, sakit perut, sakit kepala, dll).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lalu, apa yang bisa dilakukan untuk menghindari <em>overthinking?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Alihkan perhatian untuk kegiatan lain yang lebih bermanfaat<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tendensi <em>overthinking <\/em>yang sering terjadi dapat dialihkan dengan melakukan aktivitas \/ pekerjaan lain, misalnya kegiatan yang mengharuskan fisik bergerak (olahraga, jogging, dll) atau games yang menarik dan melibatkan otak (puzzles, Sudoku, dll). Anda juga dapat mencoba latihan <em>mindfulness <\/em>atau yoga. Baru setelahnya fokus dalam mencari solusi permasalahan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Mensyukuri pencapaian kecil yang telah dilakukan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kebersyukuran dapat membantu seseorang keluar dari pemikiran intrusif dan stress. Kebersyukuran juga membantu seseorang untuk menemukan tujuan baru, terutama setelah pengalaman traumatis. Alihkan pemikiran Anda terkait apa yang sudah\/belum terjadi, dan fokus terhadap hal-hal kecil yang telah Anda selesaikan\/Anda capai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Tuliskan isi pemikiran Anda<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuliskan apapun yang menjadi pemikiran saat itu, kemudian analisa inti permasalahan \/ bagian permasalahan yang dapat menjadi fokus utama. Tetapkan prioritasnya, misalnya mana yang paling mungkin diselesaikan dahulu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Lakukan tindakan nyata terhadap hal yang menjadi pikiran Anda<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perlahan, mulai lakukan tindakan terhadap apa yang mengusik Anda.
